Europe once again ahead of the curve: chemical ban

Europe has banned the plastics-softener family of chemicals.

So refreshing to read a European politician saying, "Based on the precautionary principle, with the advice of scientists, we must act." Wow! Something you don't hear much over here.

Here's our radical position: the public interest trumps profit every time. If it's malforming the genitalia of the public, you're going to have to find something else. The "innovation" comes by figuring out how to give babies toys without affecting their health, especially now that it is known that chemical damage can be passed on generation to generation. Plus the environment is damaged through production of this family of chemicals. It is NOT innovative to despoil the environment for the sake of making softer plastic toys, as the Europeans can admit.
